Golden Eagle Fans

Well, I am not sure what I will do now that the Fred Bear company now owns Golden Eagle (and several other companies like Jennings I believe). Since GE bows will no longer be available and I want one, I have a question for whoever can answer this. FB has created the Mossy Oak line of bows which basically are the GE bows (they even have the same names). However, I do notice that AMO and IBO speed ratings are a little different than what is listed by GE. Obviously FB company has made some modifications. So, my questions is this, is the Mossy Oak line the same bows as what GE once produced? If not, what modifications have they made and what are the differences? I love the GE line of bows and have shot them for years. They are smooth, quiet, accurate, and forgiving. I sure want my Obsession. All is not lost, there are still some carry overs (GE Obsession) which I can purchase if I can find one. However, I worry about warranty work etc. Thoughts?

JLM, like you I've been a fan of Golden Eagle bows for years, after my first used old Ben Pearson, all I've ever shot are Golden Eagles. When I bought my last bow two years ago, it already mentioned that the Fred Bear owned Golden Eagle. Now they're eliminating the Golden Eagle brand entirely? Bummer.

I went out to the Fred Bear web site, and you're right they don't even list GE. But I did notice that the names of two of their bow lines start with the names of camoflage - Realtree and Mossy Oak. Do you suppose that some company owns both Fred Bear and the camoflage lines and is trying to tie them together???

I noticed on their HSOforum that they have a 'contact us' link, why don't you call them with your questions? Then report back to us. I see you're from St. Cloud, I know Richmond sports (where I bought my bow - I recommend them) carried GE's and Owl Sports in Glenwood also carried them, see what they have to say. I don't know if any of the other archery shops in St. Cloud carried GE's.

As I said earlier, I bought a new GE bow two years ago, and I probably won't buy another one for 5-6 years, unless I have a major breakdown. What this elimination of the Golden Eagle line will do for me is make me expand my search to all the major bow lines. I think all of the major companies - PSE, Alpine, Matthews, Parker, etc. make good bows, I'll just have to hunt harder to find one that 'feels right' and meets my budget, rather than focusing on just Golden Eagles. If you really like the GE's then I would rush out and buy one of the last ones in stock. That will get you a few more years down the road and we'll see how this all plays out.

Good luck.

im right here

i have an older one but I love it, its just as fast as some of those fancy new bows

I think Jon Lammle at Prairie Archery in Parkers Prairie still works with golden eagle I know he still works with Mathews Hoyt Martin Bear and Jennings so i would think he still has some GE around if hes got Bear
