Wood tic removal

SCUMFROG

Recommended Posts

From the Dept. of Health publication - use tweezers to grasp close to its mouth, gentely & slowly pull outward, do not squeeze ticks body to avoid contact w/bacteria, apply anticeptic, watch for lymes disease.

I have heard that you can burn the tick with a match before pulling it off to get it to let go, but don't know if that really works, and it seems that it would be easy to burn yourself. shocked.gif

Northland and (Contact US Regarding This Word) are both correct. The vasoline takes a while, and the match trick works well - use a wooden match, light it and quickly blow it out then touch the head to the tick - they release almost instantly in my experience.

However, as stated, the tweezer method is the one recomended by most sources. For me, the match works the best though.

Hey Up North - tried to reference your post (with your forum name w/o the space between words) and the system didn't like your handle! shocked.gif

I read somewhere that by using a hot match tip makes the tick puke out some pretty toxic stuff because of the heat. Who knows? I have done it and it works, and no problems from it either.

But I think the tweezers is a better idea.

Maybe everyone has heard this before but I'll put it up again. (joke)

A little girl walks in the house and her mommy noticed there was blood all around her mouth. Frightend, her mother asks "What happend?" Thinking she got cut on some glass or some sharp object.

The little girl answers "I was picking bluberries of the dog."

If someone lit a match on my rear end, I'd think I'd give off some toxic gas too grin.gif But on the serious side, vaseline works wonders. Just smear some on the tick and what that thing back out like it was going out of style.. grin.gif

That's nasty. I heard that if you burn them or heat them up they do give off toxic gas. Can any one answer why?

I just grab, pull, and then burn.

Well its either burn or put them in my Gerber and squeeze them until you cant squeeze no more. But burning is better in my eyes, that way you don't get the juice from the tick all over your pliers. tongue.gif

For some reason the system must think I am a dirty word crazy.gif It has been happening for some time now and it is used to be good for a laugh or 3 when I would accuse people calling my nasty names grin.gif. I gues the novelty has worn off, cuz I just let it go now.
