Depth Finder makes a clicking noise???

bassman186

Question

On my 1994 Bass Tracker I have the stock Hummingbird Wideeye Depth Finder. About 2 weeks ago it began making a high pitched clicking noise. The noise speeds up as I push the throttle down to go faster. I checked the transducer and it seems to be fine. Any ideas on why this is? Can it be fixed or is it time to retire the unit for good?

Check the transducer wiring betweent the head unit and the transome. You will most likely find a spot where the sheilding on the wire is bad or chewed off. If none of the copper wire is showing, use liquid black tape to seal the wound and then regular electrical tape to cover. If the wires have been exposed you can either replace the whole unit if you choose or the cable that is bad.
