gspman
Any 12 ga will work well if it shoots where you look. With an O/U you need to make that 1st shot count. A pump is usually reliable to the bitter end. So are a few brands of autoloaders. It's nice to have that 3rd shot to anchor a bird once in a while. I have a nice 12 ga sxs that's fun to shoot and a Beretta AL391 Urika. That 391 is a heck of an autoloader. I let it go 2 years without a cleaning and it still was going strong no matter what I shot through it. I highly recommend Beretta guns. A 20 gauge will work but you need to be a little more selective in your shots and let the long shots go. I have a Beretta 687 20 ga that was a pheasant killing machine. I did a lot of patterning with it to figure out what worked best in it for pheasants and it paid off.
Cobra
Never had a problem with "Dakota Dust" with my Benelli's and it sure does get dusty out there....
slopmaster
i use a winchester Super X2 12 gauge and i love the gun. it has a 28 inch barrel and i use it for duck, goose, and pheasant. i have used it pheasant hunting in the freezing cold and have never had a problem with it so i think it is a very reliable gun.
