Sioux Narrows Report

Recommended Posts

Fished on the north side and south side of Cliff Island. (Lake of the Woods) Did really well on the walleyes – none of any size. Most fish were between 12 and 17 inches. Caught them all in 24 to 50+ FOW (30 to 35 feet worked the best). A jig head and a leech was all that was needed. For a while they bite as soon as you got the jig head to the bottom. There were also some jumbo perch mixed in. The perch seemed to like Night Crawlers to the leeches but they bit on both. The walleyes liked the night crawlers as well. The fish we caught were feeding on worm like things – they looked like a cross between leeches and angleworms. Anyone know what these things were?

No luck in the 15-20 range? I thought by now the Walleyes would be in that range. I am leaving tomorrow, so thanks for the report. I also use a Jig and a leech. What color worked best? I like just plain old lead, or gold or white.

I can tell you what didn't work last night. I got my butt kicked. Was out in 9-12' of water and marked fish like crazy on my LX3. Two boats beside me reeling them in like crazy. I couldn't buy a bite. All I had was minnows, and some Gulp worms. Neither worked on a jig or on a spinner rig. I don't know what I did wrong!? crazy.gif I have never been so baffled to see a boat right next to me reeling them in left and right, and me nothin. I am wondering/guessing that they didn't want the minnow or Gulp, they wanted leeches. I don't know. I didn't sleep well. frown.gifwink.gif
