BROOKIE TIPS ?

I'm going to be fishing a new lake for brook trout in a couple of weeks. The problem is I have very little experience with brookies most of that coming from when I was a kid fishing little streams with crawlers. The lake I am going to be fishing has had very little pressure over the last 10 years or so and is small. I plan on using crawlers, and probably spinners like mepps or blue fox. It's a walk in spot no boats or canoes, just walking around the shore. I would like a few tips if anyone has any. All ideas are welcome. Thank you

if you plan on fishing with exclusively crawlers i would rig one rod up with a slip bobber and one rod with a slip sinker, bottom fishing rig. (remember, only one rod at a time thought) switch between the two to figure out where in the water coulumn the fish are holding. pretty simple. another pressentation you may want to try is casting small floating raps or countdowns if the whole cralwer thing feels a little too much like carp fishing. grin.gif well good luck, i'm sure you'll get a few.

Some of my hot baits for Lake Brookies this Spring were 1-2" White Tube jigs. The same you would use for Crappies. Just pitch them out and let them drop, slowly jigging them on the retrieve.
