Im 15 and planning on going muskie fishing out at tonka and cass for sure this year. for rods i have a 6'6 guide series

medium heavy with an abu ambassadaur 6500 c3 spoold with 30 pound dacron. my dad has the same set up the only differnce is he has a 7ft st.croix meduim heavy. what kinda of leader should we use ive had problems with the leaders breaking while casting a giant jakpot and bigger lures any help??

All the leaders i use are 80-100# test, clips and swivels also need to be 80-100# otherwise the strength of the leader doesn't do you any good. I personally like titanium leaders, but you will hear lots of other favorites on this site as well. I also make my own seven strand leaders, much cheaper than titanium! Many people like the mono leaders but I have not used them yet so I can't give a + or - about those. The leaders that you generally use with spinnerbaits and spoons for northerns are probably about 30# test at most with much weaker clips and swivels. These leaders will not stand up to the beating a leader takes will throwing the BIG lures. Good luck and enjoy the hunt~Dan
