i have a 99 honda bf75 4 stroke, when i have it tilted all the way down while on the water it gets some oil in the cylinder and smokes for a couple seconds then stops, if it is tilted up while not running when i do put it in the water and start it no smoke. i haven't noticed any oil use. anyone have any ideas or does someone have the same problem? do i need to have it looked at.

My 90 will smoke if I leave the motor tilted it all the way up when it is stored, or if I have the choke pulled out for too long after I start it.

Never had it happen when tilted all the way down.

I have been told it is "normal" for it to smoke a little bit when it is started up.

I've got a '99 90hp also and dont think that it is an issue either. I've had a little puff here and there at startup if its sat for awhile since the last trip out.

I would suggest running a can of Seafoam thru a tank of gas just to clean out any carbon (actually I think the can says to mix 2oz per gallon for a hardcore carbon cleaning).
