VRO to mixing gas

Guest

Question

When I am out in my boat my alarm goes off that not enough oil is getting to the engine. People told me to get rid of the oil tank, plug the hole, put a fuel pump in it and mix the gas. What do you think? Have any of you done this?
thanks

Get a manual thats specific to only the year and hp of your motor. The alarm could be faulty but you have to assume the motor isn't getting enough oil till you troubleshoot everything.

There was a problem with VRO's with certain year engines. I don't recall the year(s). Unless changes have been made to improve replacement parts repairing the these VRO's may not be the best thing to do. Steve Bakken would probably be able to expand on this further.

You wouldn't be the first guy to disable the VRO and mix your fuel at 50:1. There wouldn't be any need to add a fuel pump because you already have one. You would have to bypass the low oil sensor, not the the warning horn.
