pikehunter
BTW, Cuddyer was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored yesterday.Yeah, he's had some trouble in the field; I think we all expected some growing pains there. As far as him being a rally-killer - we're talking about a guy who LED THE TEAM IN RBI IN THE MONTH OF MAY!Yes, he's hit into quite a few double plays, but alot of that has to do with bad luck. You have to hit the ball hard to hit into a double play, so it's a good sign in some ways. This isn't your beer league slow-pitch softball game where you can place the ball wherever you want to. He's putting good wood on the ball in those situations, which is better than early this year when he was striking out too often with people on base. His double-play balls are frustrating, yes, but they're no reason to replace a guy in the lineup.

pikehunter
Three runs scored, 2 RBI and two walks last night for Cuddyer. And he hit the ball hard right at guys two other times. Kinda quiet in here today ... Hello? ... Anybody?
buzzsaw
I'm here, he's just been leaving too many guys on base thats all... we can defend him all we want after a good game or two but the facts are the facts and he just needs to buck up with guys on base and "get er done". pikehunter
Ha! Just trying to get a rise out of someone, Buzz. The guys he's leaving on base bothers me too, but like I said in an earlier post, he led the team in RBI in May, so he was doing a better job driving them in than anyone else on the team - which admittedly didn't take much. He's sixth on the team with 18 RBI and fourth on the team with 27 runs scored, which is much better (in terms of rankings) than I thought they would be when the season started. But, like you, I'm hoping he starts hitting into less double plays, I just think that double plays are not necessarily a by-product of failure at the plate. GO TWINS!
