"Jerk bait" and "Jig and Pig"

I have fished for a while now (1 year).. I primarily rely on spinnerbaits and rapalas for pike and bass.. but have tried a plastic lizard or two a few times with some success. But after reading some various threads here.. a few terms still elude me.. what actually is a "Jerk Bait" and "Jig and pig"?

I assume "jerk bait" is any plastic you let sink and jerk once in a while? And a jig and pig is a large plastic on a jig that you basically do the same thing with?

there are two kinds of jerk baits.( hard and soft) hard like a rapala etc, and soft could be a fluke or other types of plastics.the jerk bait name comes from how they can be fished.( i.e. a jerk/twich pause type cadence) there are many different ways to fish these type lures.( i'm sure the guys will fill you in on those) the jig and pig; was originated by using a jig with a weed guard,( and or rattle) in conjunction with a pork trailer. hence the jig and pig. some still use a pork trailer, but with the many new and soft plastics on the market, many of us use some sort of a plastic trailer instead.

Here is a hard plastic Jerk bait.

And finally A Jin-N-Pig... however, minus the pig part.. you can either put a pork frog(hence the pig name) or you can put a plastic trialer behind it.
