Trailer lights pt.2

MJBo

Question

I have an '02 F-150 and the running lights to the trailer are out. Blinkers and hazards in the trailer work fine and and all lights in the truck are fine. I replaced the trailer harness because I figured it was a corrosion issue but it didn't help. Anyone else had this problem? Do the running lights to the trailer have their own fuse? I know the problem is in the truck because I've hooked up multiple trailers. Thanks.

I assume the running lights on the F150 work ok and the trailer works ok connected to another truck. If you replaced the connector on your F150, then the problem is between the connector and where the wire for the running lights connects in the truck. Use a meter (cheep $10 works fine) and check the harness and follow back to where you lose the voltage.

I beleive the trailer hookup is fused seperate from the truck, the fuses are uder the hood for the trailer connector in that little black box on the left front fender, the pickup lites are fused inside the truck under the dash, I was told it is done this way so all the lites don;t go out.
