Leaky livewell

protiller

Question

My livewell won't hold water (even with the plug in). Anyone have this issue before? I assume there's some type of seal for the fill/empty/recirculation feature. Your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have a post in the Equipment Information forum with the same issue. Replies to my question said to check for missing or damaged ring gaskets.

I'll be keeping an eye on replies to this post for any other suggestions.

Can you give us a little more information? What type of boat is it? I'm guessing it's a lund, based on your comment about recirc, etc.. but I'm not sure.

If it is a lund there are two drain locations.. 1 being the plug you see in the bottom of the livewell... which drains all the water out directly to the rear of the boat, bypassing the fill / recirc / empty valves. The other way is through that valve...

Chances are good your valve is either broke (and could be draining the livewell into your boat) or it needs to be adjusted to hold the water when you have the valve on fill...

Anyway, tell me what kind of boat you have and I'll go into more depth...

Marine man, I have a 1775 Pro V. I don't think it's draining into the bottum of the boat because, when I pull the drain plug on the transon no water ever comes out. All the water comes out the screen on the back of the transom. Anyhow your help is greatly appreciated.
