turkey choke w/hevi shot?

I have a 12 ga Mossberg pump and will be using Winchester 3" #5 hevi-shot; I've heard conflicting reports on if I can use a turkey choke with this ammo (much along the lines that you can't use full choke with steel);

Can anyone clarify if turkey choke's are ok with hevi-shot, or is full as strong as one can go with these loads.

Thanks much

Remington makes a choke for hevi-shot that has .O60" of constriction which is about the same as most dedicated turkey chokes. Because of the tight patterns that you can get with hevi-shot it is important to sight in your gun even if you are using the front bead as your sight. At short ranges it is possible to miss a turkeys head completly if your shot pattern hits off to one side or high or low of your point of aim.

Hevi Shot usually performs better in a little more open choke. Besides the constriction you also need a choke that is hard enough to avoid being damaged by the very hard Hevi Shot.

You can try the full choke and see how it does. Several people get a good patterns out of their standard full chokes. Otherwise, there are several Hevi Shot rated turkey chokes on the market. Some are the H.S. Strut HS Undertaker, Rhino choke, Madd Max Choke, Rem. Hevi Shot Choke, Cabelas H.S. choke, Carlson H.S. Choke, etc. Most of these have a slightly more open constriction. They are also constructed of a harder material.
