waskawood
Is anyone using the Quantum Energy spinning reels? How do you like them? I have 11 days, 10 hours, 0 min's, and 34 sec's to make up my mind. Thank you.......
tashit
I got an Energy E5 6 or 7 years ago and I love it. No problems whatsoever.
beer batter
I've had one for many years. Only problem I've had is that the bail no longer closes when you start to reel in, you have to manually close it before you start reeling. This happened after about 3 years of use though. Very smooth reel.
Reel Don
A new little bail spring would make that reel just like new. I have two Quantum PTi reels that are just super to use.
Bushwacker
I bought a Quantum PTi E20 last year that is the smoothest spinning reel I have ever fished. The drag system is flawless.
JoeTC
I had a quantum energy a few years back and I hated it. I think it was one one the lower end models though. I'm sure if its one of the better models it will work just fine. I just wasn't very satisfied with the particular one I had. It seemed to put a lot of twist in the line. fishlakeman
I also was not pleased with my Quantum Energy. Mine froze up after a year and a half of regular use. Personally I would not buy it. I have friends that have had them go to dump after a year or two also. It was a nice reel until it went out. I would go with a Shimano or Pfluger. Maybe a Sahara or President. All or my Shimano's have been bulletproof. Hope this helps!
traveler
And another thumbs up...I have a Catylist now and used an E5 for years. Quantum is the first brand I look to when I need a new reel. You know, I think you could pick just about any decent reel manufacturer and ask about thier reels and get a pretty similar response, most good, a few bad. Except almighty Shimano, of course:) Nothng personal fishlakeman, everbody has shimano and most love em', I just haven't had any better luck with them than other brands, and thier weird names drive me nuts!
