MNBIGBEAR
I have a tire on my boat trailer that won't stop leaking! I have had it remounted and a new stem put in it and I still have to fill it up everytime I trailer it. Any suggestions?
0 Dan Thiem
If you haven't already, try cleaning the bead of the wheel. Sometimes they pit and rust. Otherwise, have you put the wheel and tire in a tub to watch for the bubbles?
0 pants
I had a slow leak on my ATV tire and I used SLIME. You can get it at Mills Fleet Farm and other places. So far it has worked great!
0 Ralph Wiggum
Just have them put a tube in the tire.
0 Guest
AS the rim gets older the bead will rust and pit,you can take it off and clean, repaint and put tire back on.It will hold and probably leak again.Sure fix, clean bead, put in tube and put tire back on and you should have years of trouble free tires. 0 iffwalleyes
The easiest as mention is to put a tube in it. That is the easiest and probably cheapest in the long run. Both my boat trailer tires have them as well as my 4 wheeler.
0 MNBIGBEAR
Thanks guys. I was leaning towards the tube and think that is what I will do. I was just curious because the rim is not that old and probably only has a couple hundred miles on it and has always been stored inside but its not the first time I have had this problem with a trailer tire. Thanks for the tips though.
0 efgh
probley a rim leak, you can remove the tire, coat the rim bead area and the tire bead area with tire patching cement, let dry, remount the tire, this will not cement the tire to the rim, but will seal any bead leaks because it will fill any inperfections in the bead area. I have done this many times over the years, just a old guys solution.
