HELP!! Yamaha Kodiak Question

I noticed when i travel at speeds of 25 mph, and then apply the rear break, it will make a big crack noise, kinda like a backfire? any ideas?

My Kodiak 450 did the same thing to me a couple of times.. still dont know what it was to this day. I took it to the dealership and they couldnt find anything wrong either.. maybe debris on the brake.. I dont know, but be assured your noth the only one.

I had normal brake ware for the entire life of the pads and the brakes always worked well... just a mystery.

Are you also letting off the throttle? if so the Kodiak has engine compression braking to help slow the machine down. It does come close to backfireing sometimes but I haven't experienced a "crack" noise.

yeah i mean im letting off the gas, just slowing down, and its not like im going very fast either its only about 25 or 30 mph, which is like half open on the throttle.
