Green&Gold
Our party had a decent trip to Nestor this past weekend. As far as Lake Trout go, guys in my group averaged about 3 fish a piece per day. Nothing too big, probably a couple pounds was the norm. I think the biggest was around 6 pounds. I'm sure that the white tubes were most often the presentation of choice. For crappies, we spent a good deal of time in Sabaskong Bay over Gordy's road (Cyclone Point area). Fishing was slow to moderate. We averaged about 8 keepers (10 inches or bigger) per day. We probably caught about 40 per day but most were in the 7 to 8 inch range. Don't worry, we made sure to bring them up nice and slow, which actually caused us to lose quite a few more...still better than killing those little ones though. Others in our party fished Stevens Bay with similar luck. Can't complain too much. The weather was beautiful and Muskie Bay Resort was very accomodating. Gissert
We had a nice time there as well. I enjoyed meeting the guys in your group. Our reports are very similar to yours. Talked to my brother last night, and he said it appeared there was some kind of major hatch going on LOW that slowed fishing down quite a bit. Green&Gold
I enjoyed meeting the guys in your group as well, although I don't think I ever got the chance to make your acquaintance. As far as the hatch goes, I heard the same thing. When we drilled our holes on LOW, there were hundreds of little bugs (for lack of a better word) that would immediately come up the hole. They were about the size of a sesame seed. One guy said this was the hatch that Crappies were gourging (sp?) themselves on. I don't know if that was true or not, but they were biting slower than previously reported. JH
Duffman
For a Cheesehead, ya ain't that bad of a guy Green and Gold. Nice meetin ya, you too KettleKid and Poutslayer. I'll see some of youse up playing bumper boats on the Louie for the opener. The bite was defineatly off, but we caught enough to keep things interesting. Can't argue about the scenery or weather, and Paul treats his customers very well at Muskie Bay Resort. Coming off the ice after a long day fishing to one of Chris's home cooked meals will always be a highlight of the trips up there. As usual, it was good hanging out with the Ice Shanty Gang, even youse guys from the land of Bannation. Put me down for next year, and I'll also bring that Bushwac feller with me next time. Green&Gold
Hey Duffman,I'll see you on the river this spring. I think I'll avoid the bumper boats by steering clear of the 23 Bridge. I'll be in that area though. Less than 2 months now. JH
