Iowa Great Lakes -- Early season trip

Hi All,

I was thinking about a pre-Minnesota bass season trip to the Iowa Great Lakes region...

Of course, this would be after ice out,and as water warms, hoipefully in around a month or so

Anyone here have any experience or suggestions in the area?

Been there a few times. Lots of smaller largemouth in the channels along with a few decent fish. Don't expect to be alone while fishing the channels. Okoboji can be a tough lake to catch legal size fish-15" minimum. Anybody with a limit is usually in the money during early season tourneys. There are a few hotels in Spirit Lake, The Super 8 has electricity outside for charging batteries.

There's a great place to stay on the south end of okoboji called cresent beach resort. They offer extremley in-expensive off season rates, a beautiful place to stay with all the immenities you can ask for. It's right on the lake.

It's an absolute blast fishing down there that time of the year highly recommend it!!!!
