rope lighting

Question

I saw an ad for marine rope lighting in the cabelas catalog. It seems like it would be a pretty convenient and inexpensive way to light up the boat at night. Any problems w/ it? Thanks for your opinions.

That could be a good idea.

Only draw back will be the high bass rap music playing, boat front end lifting up and down quickly, fake spinner wheels on side, and big wing spoiler on top of outboard motor.... grin.gif

It might scare fish away, but on the good side it WILL scare other fishermen from your favorite fishing hole.

Sorry Sam, I couldn't resist..... grin.gif

LED Rope Lighting works great in a boat. What I have found is try to install it so it is indirect lighting and does not mess up your night vision.

A neat tip is adding rope and a pressure switch to light rod lockers. A few feet of LED rope will do wonders in a rod locker.

Pontoons are another good place for a rope lighting application, either in the canopy or around the fishing deck.

For some boats, the rope is overkill and a few LED marine area lights do the trick just fine. The 6-pack LED bar lights take little juice and light a large area.

Amber or yellow is a good bet for boat use in the summer too...less bug action with the amber/yellow over the clear.
