mmm-kay
Reading over on the Lake of the Woods post someone mentioned that you might be able to help me.Since my first ice adventure was not all that good, I am gearing up to try it from a boat.We love to crappie fish, is LoW like the lakes we have in SD.where the crappies are active as the water warms after the ice leaves? What is the "average" date of ice out?Do you guide for something like this? or do you know of somebody that would? You always here of walleye guides but not to often do you hear of a crappie guide. After me and my friend seen what the Northwest Angle looks like, I don't think we would venture it by ourselves.Any help would be greatKay
Hemlock
Ice out average is first week in May The lake varies in ice out by as much as a week or more, as it is a diverse lake and different areas lose their ice faster.I do not guide. I have some resorts for you that do guide if you are interested. Drop me an email. Crappies are abundant in Ontario/LOW waters. Nestor Falls is a good place to try as well as around the NWAngle/Ontario. As far as water temps, etc. Not sure. If I were able to put in more time, I might be able to help. Crappies are usually suspended above the walleyes and will bite on a similar presentation as the eyes. Lighter tackle is always better if you can.Never fished/been on a lake is SD, so I can't answer your question about LOW being the same as the lakes in SD...You could answer that better than I. Either search the web for a resort for a guide. There are several resorts at the Angle that could guide you as well as Muskie Bay Resort that specializes in Lake Trout and Crappie. Good Luck![email protected]
