Pikemaster101
Is the new Autopilot witth the remote control a good and easy thing to have if you like to troll along shore lines and cast into the shore line or is it too hard to control while you are casting. And then for that situation would the foot pedal be better. Thanks
dfv87
I have the auto pilot option on mine minnkota and LOVE it. I was not sure about it but was told it is nice to have. It is not just nice to have but IMO is something I GOTTA have! I troll cranks shallow at night and you point it along a shoreline and go, I can concentrate on fishing and let the boat drive itself. It holds true in the wind and the only way it could be better is if you could get it so you could lock in a specific depth and follow the contour line. I think they make one of those now too. davev
Pikemaster,If you do a search in this forum for the "Minkota remote" on all forums, you should find a lot of discussion about it. Having said that, I would not be without my autopilot with a remote (co-pilot). I use the autopilot feature to stay on course along a shoreline while I am casting. The wind can still be a problem, though. Into the wind works better than with the wind. The co-pilot works well for me when I am lindy-rigging along a contour. I sit in the back of the boat and watch the sonar. Remote in my right hand and pole in my left hand. For vertical jigging, nothing works better for me than a foot control, since I am standing up and jigging with two poles (or one).

farmislandeye
Mr.Platze I used to have a remote. One time i was fishing when it was raining and it broke because it got water in it. If i were you i would just get a plain ol trollin moter.
LocalGuide
I have one and I love it. I can walk all the way around the boat and unhook other people's fish and not have to run back up to the front and grab the pedal to gain control of the boat again. It just gives me a lot more freedom in the boat and I like that. I have had my remote out in rain, its been splashed with water from waves and been dropped in the livewell and it still works fine. Its advertised on Minn Kota's site as a small wireless remote that is waterproof and floats. And believe me Ive found that out too, its true. CanOCorn
I have the AP with Copilot and there can't be enough said. Worth every penny! Get the Minnkota Quick release as it is a spendy motor. That way you can lock it up or take it off while storing. Also, AP is great but if you are going for a lengthy trip and have no access to power to recharge, don't use the AP as it can drain the battery.
