AnglerJake
I am looking to buy a portable depthfinder to take on a Canada fly-in trip this summer. Looking at the Eagle Cuda 128 or the Humminbird PiranhaMAX 10. Any thoughts, suggestions etc? Thanks!

slick814
I recently bought a Lowrance Ice Machine M68... flasher, sonar with multiple options, GPS... and it has the ability to be used for open water, with the different transducers that are available. I love this thing, best piece of equipment that I've purchased in the last few years... it works great, is pretty easy to use, and with all the portability it has, I think it's one of the best options on the market. Valv
If you have any Lowrance or Eagle sonars, they have an optional box with battery where they become portable and very easy to carry. The transducer has a suction cup that can be installed on the transom of any boat. Practically you use your boat sonar head and mount it on the box, then you can use your Vex or any standard 12 volts gelcel battery to operate it, or you can purchase one with box. You will have the good quality sonar in a portable version, then when you get back home, take head off and install it back on your boat again. No need to spend money on extra sonar, I believe price ranges between $ 30/$ 80 depending if they have the transducer and battery. Check Lowrance web site under accessories / portable. I have one of the Piranas, and I just use it as a depthfinder when testing boats, the accuracy and quality is much limited compared to high end sonars. koeps
valv is correct but our best seller has been the eagle fishmark 320 in portable for around $195. it has the high pixel count and very good power to use in all situations. then the battery(gell)and charger are only $15 so not alot of money but another choice for you.
