0 wishing for walleyes
I made an 8x16 last year.I used 2x6,11 gauge steel for my runners.I used regular 2x4`s on my walls with 30 year white tin on the outside.I put my axel right in the center, thinking i was going to put a 100# Lp tank up front for tounge weight.I ended up just using a 20# tank.I have a fold up hitch in the front of my house which i made out 3/16 4x4 steel and hydraulic lift on my tires which are on the inside of the house. I could have put my axel an inch back from the center. My house weighs 3150#`s

0 End of the Line
I have an ALL STEEL STRUCTURE 8'x 22' with a 4 foot hitch. I used 2" x 3" rectangular tubing 1/4" (75 ksi strength), all the way around the exterior base of the frame. The interior is set up on 2 foot spacing with 2"x3" angle iron 3/16" thick. This minimizes the chance for freezing in since the edge is all that can freeze in with angle iron. Note; that I used 2"x2" box tubing 16 gauge for the walls. This rigid wall helps support the rest as a total box structure, but lighter material can be used in the wall and achieve the same reinforcing necessary. For your size I would reccommned the same pattern of structure as mine is, because I have a double axle and yours will probably be a single. As for the hitch weight. If the interior is nearly weighted the same throughout from front to back. Generally speaking an axle ceterline placed 6" aft of center with a 4 foot hitch will usually provide a pretty nice weighted tongue. My entire house weighs #3200 pounds without the propane tanks filled but in place. I have 2 #100 pounders on the hitch. Hope this helps! Good luck.------------------End of the Line ChartersLake Superior1-888-U-HOOK-EMwww.fishontheline.com[This message has been edited by End of the Line (edited 11-01-2003).]
