Eric Wettschreck
Down to Earth, I couldn't agree more with what you just said. Last time I watched a game it sure looked like a whole team out there and not just one guy.
otto_man
buzzsaw what do you mean "he gets way to much credit"? what more does a player have to do to get credit? he's near the top of the list in most of the statistical categories. he's won 3 mvp's, a superbowl ring and has led his team to many playoff appearances. wow, show the man some luv!!! don't worry he'll retire soon... Down to Earth
Ottoman,I think what Buzz is getting at is the way Favre has played in his last 3 playoff losses, MN, Phi, and Atl. He has not had good games and if he had not thrown multiple INT's to the opposition the Pack could have probably advanced further than they did. In the view of the Viking fans here they are just pointing out these performances as a point that Favre no longer deserves(in their opinion) to be put up on a high and lofty pedestal that Packer fans and some in the media continue to put him on. In some ways, other than to just get at the nerve of die hard Packer Backers, they have some good points when making that argument. The same way they are defining Favre's career with his recent playoff losses, Packer fans are defining his career by what he done in the 90's. Just my opinion. buzzsaw
Otto, sorry if I offended you, it's just that some players in my humble opinion get too much credit for their teams greatness for instance... Joe Montana... hello that team was loaded on offense/defense and with coach Walsh calling plays!! I hate it when I hear he was the greatest QB ever! I feel the same way about Brady and Favre... besides I don't believe you can pin down the greatest ever tag on one player... too many great ones... who's the best RB ever?? I love what Barry Sanders could do... nobody was more fun to watch than him right, Walter Payton killed the purple and everybody else for years and did so on a very average team for most of those years as did Sanders... Jim Brown... whatever he's a self promotor who gives NO credit to other RB's! Dickerson... good, Dorsett ... good, Emmitt Smith... good but played for GREAT teams! put him on one of those crappy Lions or Bears teams and he would not have the rings or yardage I guarantee you that! You guys get what I'm saying? Best QB's: Marino, Fouts???, Young.. hows that for controversy? RB's: Payton, Sanders, dunno.... WR's: Rice, Largent, Cris Carter... yep, great paws on that brotha! TE's: Winslow, Tony Gonzales, dunno.... Okay go ahead and disagree gentlemen (and otto)
Eric Wettschreck
buzzsaw, I honestly think you should have Largent ahead of Rice. Both of em are great players, but c'mon, like ya said, who played for a great team and who didn't. Largent was the MAN!!!!!
Down to Earth
Here I was about to say that I think WR is the easiest of the 4 to actually pick the best of group. For me its Rice hands down. I think Gonzo has a slight edge over Winslow Sr. as far as TE goes.More so especially at the offensive skill positions so much is relied on the surrounding cast and I'm including coaches and coordinators. So many factors that for the most part you have to group a bunch together(and the group is always growing) and pick your guy and agree to disagree on different points of view.
