wellsupplyguy
Does anyone have an idea if you can have auger blades sharpened or is it to late once they are so far gone?
Hemlock
I had a local sharpening service guy do my two jiffy blades, and I've never had my auger cut like it is now. I will be using his services in the future.
mamohr686
I would say yes with jiffy chipper blades, and no with any type of shaver blades like strikemaster & nilsmaster.

Northlander
Just find a place that will switch out your old blades for new resharpened ones.
Walterwontfalter
I also have a strikemaster and have no problem sharpening them. I have 12" Arizona stone with three stones (coarse, medium, fine). All you have to do is lay the beveled edge to the stone, with some honing oil of course, and either rub in small circles or "shave" the stone as if you were trying to shave off a very fine slice off of the stone. Just like if you were sharpening a wood chisel or your hunting knife. Also, a couple times a year I touch up my blades with my dremel tool and a grinding bit. Just keep the rotation of the bit turning toward the blade and keep your sharpening even. I've been doing this for 3 years now and it works excellent. If there's any nicks in the blade or dents go to the course stone and grind them out. When I first tried it I figured I had nothing to lose. My blades didn't cut the ice worth a hill of beans and I couldn't possibly make them worse.
wellsupplyguy
Well I suppose Icould try the sharpenning the blades and if I dont get an edge on them just trade them in for refurbished ones. The guy at the store said they sell stones to sharpen the blades with but im wondering if the blades have to be in somewhat good shape yet?I live in the st.cloud area, are there any places nearby that sell refurbished blades? Dan Thiem
I talked to Strikemaster and they said my XL3000 blades could not be sharpend. I didn't believe them so I took my blades to a sharpening service that said they could sharpen anything that has an edge. Then I got them back and tried it out at the lake. What a joke! They couldn't even make a divit in the ice. I should have listened to Strikemaster. So I called them back and had them send me some new ones. $42.15 after tax and shipping. Now it cuts so good it almost pulls itself down the hole. Almost have to hold it back.
