Flourescent lights vs. other lights in permanent shack

kevfish

Question

What type of lights seem to work the best in permanent ice shacks. I just got one flourescent light to try in my shack- the 1st thing i noticed is that it was a whiter light-do people like this better- Thinking of replacing all lights with flourescent

I used 6 of the 12 volt flour. "trouble light" style in my 8X12 perm. house. I liked the fact that they don't draw much current so your batteries last longer. On the downside, they don't really get bright until they are warm, so if its below zero you need to get the house warmed up for an hour or so until they really throw light. Also on the downside, they are around 11 or 12 bucks each. A lot more expensive than simple 12 volt bulbs.
