Vexilar Battery

My Vexilar Battery won't hold a charge any more and I need to get a new one. Are there smaller and or better batteries than what I got with the Blue Ice Box Setup 5 years ago. I don't need a long lasting battery as I use a Deep Cycle in the portable for main power. Just something to last a few hours when in search mode. Also is it OK to have a sealed battery on its side or would it have lasted longer standing terminals up?

Get mine at the farm and fleet in Virginia for about 15 dollars. Radio Shack may have em too. no apparent need for Original Equipment on the battery.

If you have a Batteries Plus store near you, they have several sizes and amp hr ratings. I got a 35ahr battery that is the same size as 2 Vex batteries to run my lights. They also have smaller batteries than a vex also.

It was $50 something. Not a bad price for that much power , in that small of a package.

No problem to run the battery on its side. I second the Batteries Plus recommendation if you are looking for a different size battery.

FISH NET, You should be able to find the 12 volt 7 amp hr battereis at any sporting goods chain. Thats what most likely came with your Vex and you should be getting 25+ hours of use out of a battery that size.

Thanks for the info. Was concerned as my old battery was starting to bulge on the sides. Is that a sign of overcharging? I went ahead and got the Flt. Frm. “Zeus” 7ah or the same as I had for $17. Will have to find a new spot to put the bobber box. Running the vex without the battery in the ice box made it so light the transducer would drag it into the hole. I like to keep the transducer cord fixed to the box to hold it on the side. Guess I need the extra weight after all.
