Does anyone know of good public land around the houston, rushford, yucatan, lacrosse (wi) area that I could bowhunt next fall???

Try stopping into Magnum sports in Chatfield,MN. The only closest archery specialist in the SE region that would be willing to help a guy out.

Save yourself some gas $$$ and contact the DNR's 1-800 #. I was looking for public land to hunt for turkeys this last spring. Their customer service agents are second to none and will get you maps of areas you are needing. Normally the next day depending on when you talk to em'.

Welcome back Ted! I thought you were from Houston? All the public land around Houston has good hunting. The best source of info might be a county plat book then you'll also know the names of adjacent landowners whom you might want to contact for possible additional hunting opportunities.

County plat books are usually available at the county courthouse or recorders office. also check out the DNR Prim maps...they run about 5 bucks and highlight the public lands. you could also browse the maps section of the DNR HSOforum and get topo maps of the area you're looking at.
