bigtruckderbuck
I have an opportunity to purchase one of these for $275. The unit is new in the box, but is from a 3rd party vendor, which voids the Marcum 1-year warranty (the seller checked it out). The seller is offering a 30 day warranty. I'm wondering whether anyone knows of potential problems with this arrangement. Is it very likely that a defect could reveal itself after 30 or more days of use which would render the unit useless? I'm just trying to get an idea of how much risk I'm exposing myself to.Thanks for any input.
Bob_D
I've had mine for almost a year and I have not had any problems with it. Generally, electronics fail pretty quickly if they are going to. Give it some heavy use in the first 30 days and I would think that you would be ok.
Polar Bear
I bought mine on hsolist a month ago probably from the same guys your'e looking at. Had it in the water for a total of about 6 hours since then. Here's my honest opinion:The first two lakes I tried it on I was almost sick about how limited the visibility was. However, both lakes had roughfish stirring up the bottom. Yesterday I used it on a clear water lake and had a real blast. It was the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on. At one time I had about 30 bluegills on the screen! The claritiy of the picture was outstanding. I was wary of the warranty issue too. I guess saving over 200 bucks is worth a little worry though. My advice: if you fish clear water lakes go for it. So far I really like mine.
