Aqua-Vu ZT Problems

Hookmaster

Question

Tried the ZT for the first time last Monday. Very cool. It worked great for about 30 minutes. I was getting horizontal hold problems on the no light setting. It worked fine in the light on setting. Brought it home and charged the battery. Same thing but now lights come on in both switch positions. Voltmeter gave 13.2 volts. Next day no horizontal hold issues but picture is grainy and lights still come on in both switch positions. I am exchanging it tomorrow. Must have gotten a lemon.

I looked at it more closely tonight when I was packing it up and found the camera housing had leaked. There was water on the LEDs and moisture in front of the camera lens. This is what caused the grainy picture.

It's fried!! If you have water in the camera there's no saving it. Call Aqua Vu and they'll give you a RO # and send it in. The whole process should take four days if you're in MN. When they first came out they had alot of trouble with this, I thought it was due to the freezing temps we submit them to and then warming it up in the truck or house when not in use. But, I haven't heard many problems lately. You must have just got a bad one.

Picked up another Aqua-Vu ZT last Friday and used it Saturday morning with my 9 year old sun. Down-viewing, he caught 9-10 sunfish all by himself. He never would have caught that many using the Clearwater Classic because the bites were so light. We also caught a couple of 4# northerns. On the way home he said he had fun and was glad he went. He already wants to go again. However, when putting the new camera in the water for the first time, I notice bubbles coming out of the cable connection to the camera. Not good. It kept working until the battery started getting low but yes, water in the camera again. The ZT has the perch colored camera. I wonder if they had a bad lot of these? Calling Aqua-Vu again today.

I have the Ice Pro camera with the cappie around the camera and the bubbles are just the crappie filling up with water. Mines does it every time. When I pull the camera out of the water, I always have to hold it for a while until the water drains out. I'm not sure if this is where you think your camera is leaking or not, but just a thought.
