picksbigwagon
Could a guy drive with a yukon or voyager on top of his vehicle? I know it is possible, but would it be recommended if I can strap it down good and tight? what if I flipped it over on it's top????
0 Northland Sportsman
I have a voyager and haul it in the back of the truck. It is a bit big for the top of a car but could probably be done. I would definetely recommend the travel cover if you attempt this. I used mine without a few times and the canvas can really whip in the wind. The cover makes a big difference. I would make sure it is strapped down REALLY GOOD!
0 picksbigwagon
I have a mountaineer/explorer and I know it would barely fit in the back but if I take my two boys along, it would have to go on top.....I was already thinking of the travel cover too
0 Paul Waldowski
I have seen portables several times strapped on roofracks or cartop carriers. It will work fine. As has been mentioned, don't do it without the cover.
0 fishing 101
You better be one tough SOB and not care about scratching your vehicle if you are going to put it on top. I would recommend trying to find a trailer to haul it around on. But definitely - buy the travel cover.
0 Gus
I agree with Fishing101. My buddy just bought a voyager and it's a beast to load into the back of my truck or his Tahoe. I couldn't imagine trying to get it on top of a vehicle. I'd say no way.
0 Moose-Hunter
A few years ago when I "acquired" my first portable, an 8x8 suitcase styled house. The previous owners had obviously strapped it on a car top carrier in the past. Because that's the way I found it in the ditch. Half buried in snow, no i.d., with a roof rack still strapped to it. Including all the rack to vehicle mounting hardware and small bits of sheet metal. If you do use your roof rack, you may want to tie-down to points stronger than the rack itself. Although your portable house may not exceed the racks rating as far as weight, add the wind load and drag... It may be a much different story.Just a friendly heads-up.... 0 anyfishwilldo
If you are planning on putting it on the roof, Id definatly get the yukon, for the weight factor.
0 andy j
THe covers are well worth the extra money, It keeps the canvas from blowing around and it keeps it covered from the salt from the road. even in the back of the truck the salt will get to it if it is not covered.
