Slush Inhaler

Recommended Posts

Got a slush inhaler for christmas. It was too big for my auger so I traded it in for store credit, but after looking at it for a while, I kind of figured I could build one myself. Just curious, anyone use one and what did you think? Seems like a lot of space and weight to drag out onto the ice.

I have a 10 incher and love it. It is really nice for permanent houses and for ice that gets really thick. The only problem is you have to be careful not to damage them because they are a little thin skinned. At URL last year we had to use our extension but when we cleaned out the holes with the inhaler we had 95% of the ice cleaned out with 2 dips. I couldn't imagine having to use a scoop to get it cleaned out. My hand would cramp up I probably wouldn't be able to pull any fish up. frown.gif

Neiko,

Just out of curiosity, what length of extension do you have for your auger. I just picked up a 12" extension for my Strikemaster just in case I needed it. Should I return it and go with the 20"? Have you ever been in situations where you needed more than a 12" extension?

Thanks in advance!

I was on URL 2 years ago and that was the most ice I have ever seen and got through with a 12". I think the 20" would be too long, in my opinion. Even with the 12", my hands are starting around my upper chest (and I'm 6'4"). I'd go with the 12, personnaly. It's quite a bit to heft the auger and extension out of the hole...considering I'm typically drilling 50+ holes a day on average.

computerboy- i dont recall exactly what i have but its either an 18" or 20" extension for my strikemaster and on Upper Red last february we used pretty much all of it. I think theres only a couple bucks difference between the shorter and longer ones. I personally would go get the longer one just in case.

Computerboy, I would have to agree with Norm. I have the longer extension and I would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. Especially for the couple bucks difference. It is a long way for me to drive and not be able to reach the water.
