mrmillelacs;

This link may help.

Trailer Towing Tips... Trailer Loading One of the main causes of trailer sway is not having a large enough percentage of trailer tongue weight compared to gross trailer weight. ...

www.etrailer.com/faq/trailer-towing-tips.asp - 18k

Sounds like tongue wght. should = 10-15% of GTW.

Your trailer loading (cargo) will affect this also.

Good Luck;

On my 16' I put as much weight up front as I can. I would think that there is probably 250# on the tongue. If I don't have enough weight it will sway.

I have 2 battery's that I leave in the cabinet because it has the stay n charge unit so we put the water and toilet and shift things in the house when we travel so that theres nothing on the floor behind the axle inside the house.

Had this happen with my boat last year. We ran up to Canada towing it behind my buddy's Tahoe and it swayed something fierce. When we got back and I towed it back home from his house with my full-sized blazer, negligible sway. The culprit was I had LT rated tires on my unit and he had R rated tires. That is the prefix on the tire size, ie, LT265/R16 vs. R265/R16. I measured my tongue weight and it was the right proportion to the boat weight.

im not sure if this will help you..but on the one i had last year I had the same thing...almost took us off the highway...I found that there was to much gap in the axel asm. and when we were going down the highway one of the axels would kinda move in and out causing a heck of a sway..something yea might want to look at anyhow...hope it works out for yea

Try a drop hitch!

I was pulling my sons snowmobile and that thing was swaying back and forth like a crankbait with a big lip.

So on the way up we stopped and bought a reciever hitch that dropped down about 4 inches from the reciver hitch level. That was all it took and it trailered true right down the road. I think it all has to do with center balance!So borrow or buy a drop reciver hitch and see if that works for you!

Good Luck! grin.gif
