Fixing small holes in a 2 year old Fish Trap

I just picked up a 2 to 3 year old Fish Trap that has an area of roughly 1 square foot with about 10 dime size holdes in it.

What is the best patch for the blue USL tarps and should you put it on both sides?

I have used Tear Mender on my black canvas houses and it worked well. Should I try that on the the Trap? The fabric seems to have a slick coating.

I have used the iron on jean patch. I put some on a couple of burn holes more than 10 years ago, and they are still doing a great job. I put them on the outside because it is more like jean texture. You can match the color fairly close if you go to a fabric store.
