Tom Linderholm
Crappieslapper,I don't know much about this lake but if you re-post in the BWCA-Duluth-Range forum you will get a wealth of info.
CrappieJohn
I have not done the winter thing there, but I have hammered it in the summer and come up with mixed results for crappie, sunfish and waldos. Friends have done the iceat Lax and report that they get sporadic activity and that the fish tend to be smallish. Myself I have hat hits that left the minnow completely peeled of skin. Those are not small fish doing that so it may be worth a check. If you go to the public landing and lokk straight ahead to the far shore, you will want to cross at an angle of about 2oclock. There is a hole in that area against the shore that seems to be quite a draw for the summer fish and should hold fish there in the winter. Stop at the small store/office on the hiway and grab a map of the lake to help yourself out. And they have the best ice cream cones found near the northshore!
