marcum VS-560 camera

I'm anxiously waiting too Northlander.

I didn't want to order one without personally seeing it. Pretty much every dealer at the Ice Fishing show had a few so I got to take a good look. The Marcum booth was also very helpful with giving me a good run down on the camera. I'm still floored how the direction indicator works. There is a compass in both the camera and the unit itself and they coordinate with each other.

I got mine back at the begining of October and finally had a chance to use it fishing, yesterday, on Coon Lake. I fished in the channel in 14 feet of water. The camera works beautifully. Coon is a lot murkier than Harriet or Pomroy (two lakes I tested it on) but I could still see several feet away. No problem at all seeing my bait clearly. I had the lights on by five o'clock and they worked great. No need to glow up the jig, just lift it a couple of inches so it's in the lights path and when it drops back into view, it's obviously glowing brightly.

I didn't see any fish after dark and don't know if the lights repelled them or not. During the afternoon I only saw a couple of sunnies cruise by. I'm really glad I bought it, though the remote control could work a little better. The buttons are very small and you have to be right in front of the unit and pointing right at it, and sometimes that isn't even good enough. I'm not so sure about it's advertised ten foot range. I was only sitting two feet from the monitor and still had some minor difficulty with it. cool.gif

I have one and have only used it on open water once. Still waiting for ice here in central iowa. I was impressed with it's capabilities on open water. Lights worked very well compared to IR lights on another Aqua-vu. Will give more info after I test it out on ice.
