Riverfishin
I bought one of the those quantum energy reels a couple of years ago and the magnetic braking thing doesn't work, I only cast when I have it on free, If I have the break on I only can cast it about 40 feet, one thing i did notice was that I dropped it in the water and then it casted good for about 20 minutes, then it was back to 40 foot casts. delmuts
sounds like it desperately neeeds to be cleaned and greased! i would suggest you take it to some one in your area, that does reel repair or maybe do it yourself. then see how it works. del
Riverfishin
I knew it needs to be cleaned, but this reel is different than other baitcasters I've seen, i brang it in to Gander Mountain and they said they couldn't clean it and I should Mail it Quantum. I was just asking if anyone else has one of these reels.
Musky Mike
I agree, a good cleaning is in order. This is only my opinion, but don't by any more Quantem's. I've owned a couple in the past, nothing but problem's. Sorry, does'nt help you by me ranting and raving. There are places, including Bass Pro Shops, that you can send them to for cleaning & repairs. Wayne Ek
The E600 series are centrifugal braking systems and I have has great luck with them. I would send it back to Quantum if its just 2 years old, they have been great at replacing items or repairing them for me and my clients do beat up on some of the equipment. BigMike
I have two Energy 600's and I love them!!! I have yet to have any problems with mine. They are very smooth and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a couple more. I also have a couple quantum spinning reels that I love too. The kinetic (cheaper line), catalyst & energy pt spinning reels have titanium bails and magnetic bail trips instead of a bail spring. The bails take a beating and will never fail or break. If you can't tell, I'm a quantum guy... If you are experiencing problems, send them back to Quantum or take it to be cleaned. I sounds like all your reel needs is some hot sauce (love that stuff).
