Check out the LOW forum. I've been talking with some guys on there about it. I too am heading up on the 6-9th of January to Muskie Bay Resort. I believe the topic was LOW crappies.

the best laker action i had lst jan was on gold hammered spoons. tipped with head of a cisco. biggest was a 35" 18" girth also had many in the 8-10 lb range.

If you are going to be fishing Whitefish Bay, be sure to pay close attention to the regulations. It's in a world of it's own for winter fishing. No barbs, no live bait (frozen, dead, etc, all no-go), # of hooks. Early January is usually some good trout fishing.

I love that name!!! 3 inch white tube jigs are about all I use when laker fishing in that area. Heading to Muskie Bay on the 1st, sure hope there is enough ice!!! You will hammer 'em!!! Regs are interesting up there.
