Otter seats

I just purchased the Lodge a week ago and am wondering the same question.

I remember reading some instructions someone posted about making their own bench seat for the otters....but have searched for it and can't seem to find it. Anyone know the document I am refering to?

I tested out all the seats by Otter at the show and decided I liked the seat with the beverage and bait holder under it. The economy was light but the backrest was too flexable, I was afraid I would lean back to stretch and brake it. One thing I wish those seats did was lean you forward a bit more. You really have to sit back to get much back support. I guess Im always leaning over the holes anyway.

I would not spend a lot of $ on any seats. I if you think about it you could come up with a pretty good seat system with a couple of 2x4's and a couple of cheep swivel seats from fleet farm. That is what I did and saved myself a lot of $. Still just as comfee as the otters and still have more room to store the ice equipment.

My dad purchased a bench seat for his otter cabin. I like it much better than my polar sport bench. The brackets allow the bench to lift up and gain access to everything under the seat while remaining stable (it doesn't slide down the rail, it's bolted in place). He got a deal at thorne for $100. The price of 2 individual seats costs more than that! I'm faily tall at 6'1" I like the added height of the seat. I'm much more upright and my knees are much less fatigued at the end of the day because I sit up higher. I also like being able to set your tackle, gloves, etc on the center portion of the bench. It keeps your equipment handy and it doens't get wet in the bottom of the sled. Really the only downside is the inability to put a 20 lb tank under the seat. On a really cold 3 day trip we can go through a full tank on LOW. You'll have to get a smaller tank if you drag your gear with an atv or sled.

That would be great....whats your email?

Or please send them to zachej1 (at) hotmail (dot) com

Thanks!

Is it me or is there no way to email someone without them posting their email address? Seems different to other forums I am on....maybe I am just missing something!! LOL

I have the large Otter and the factory bench seat. It is worth the cash in my mind for several reasons. First of all, you have a nice bench to set your tackle box, lunch, or rod. Also, you can position your legs however you want; the molded plastic seats are a bit tight when one has long underwear, jeans, and bibs on. In addition and finally, it does not take up any addtional room on or in the sled. I can get my power auger inside the sled without even flipping up the seat bracket. The otter cover also fits nicely over the seat in the down position. Everyone who has fished with me can verify the comfort and functionability of the factory seat.

I also just finished building a couple of brackets and mounted boat seats to them. It saved me quite a bit of money to build my own. I have a total of 1 hour and $21 invested in the seats. The factory ones are nice, but why spend $70+ for something you can build for cheaper?

I ditto all of the above. The individual seats were just to heavy for me to be pulling around with the fish house. I had originally ordered one of the seats with beverage holder, but almost threw out my back lifting the sucker up wink.gif Ok, so it wasn't that bad, but for the money, weight and size- go with the bench they make. That's what I did and is very comfortable and all the above comments too!!

I also did not like the factory seats so I welded up some seat brackets and mounted boat seats to the set-up. I have pics if anyone is interested.

I did the same as above. Mine are way lighter and more comfortable than otters. I hated there molded plastic seats. I have a big rear end and those seat actually would cut the circulation off in my legs when I sat on in.
