depths to jig at

just wondering with lets say a chubby darter how far off the bottom u would jig it or would u jsut try what different depths and where ever they are u go that route? Also wodnerign if any of u use the varmit by jb lures??

This is going to sound pretty simple, but put your jig where the fish are. If you don't have a fishfinder, then you will have to work the water column to find the fish.
