Kylersk
Why would one want a 24" over a 28" or anything else? I'm assuming for crappies/panfish you want an ultralite? But, like they say, never assume, thus the questions.
Matt Johnson
You could go with either an ultralite or a light action. Different brands have different actions, and a light action by one brand might not be the same as a light action in another brand. For the majority of my panfishing, I usually stick with 24-28 inch rods, but sometimes I'll use a 29 to 32 incher. Here's a topic we started a little while back about ice rods... Deitz Dittrich
Read the post matt posted for sure.. But the quick answer of why someone would want a 24" rod over a 28"... They work better in tight spaces like smaller 1 man portables.. or if you are sight fishing.and also like matt says.. ultralight or just a regular light action will work on gills and crappie... I have even used light action on walleye.
