jiggin pig
My co-worker and i were looking to do some prairie dog hunting next year. I am wondering what would be a decent rifle to bring with. Would it be a .223 or 22-250. I have access to either. any good recommendations for areas. thanks for the help.
fishin5
I am kinda partial to the .223. Recoil may be a little bit more, but with th availibility of good hand loaded ammo, the 223 is my choice. (except for the .25-06 for those 300+yrd shots!) Dakota Iceman
why not a good old 22? they work great and some hollow points will definatly make them go "thwack" when you hit em.
Waterbeater
Jiggin'I've got both and do alot of prairie dog shooting here on the ranch. My vote goes to the 22-250. The best all-around caliber ever created. Super flat shooting and with hot loads approaching 3000 fps. get ready for some prairie dog acrobatics! Has anyone used one of the new 204 calibers yet. 4225 fps. WOW! With that kind of speed I am a little hesitant about barrel life, but it has caught my attention. I think I'll let it be tested a while longer before I jump in. Hope this helps. Les
