Just had the lower unit seals replaced and have a new issue. The motor has kicked into neutral at full throttle a couple of times. Can the lower unit work drive the need for any adjustment to the gear shift linkage? Any input appreciated.

I once had this exact same motor and never had that problem. It should NOT do that. Whoever worked on your motor needs to make some adjustments! I believe you are correct on the gear shift linkage.
