Bitter Lake in the Spring

I've been out to Bitter a few times this summer and I am wondering when the bite really gets going or seems to peak in the spring. I would like to get a group of friends togehter for some camping and fishing. Also can anyone recommend a good campground in the area? We'll be tenting it.

I will check into it. I am looking for the same setup, but not until June.

There is a city (?) campground in Webster, a state campground at Pickeral Lake and I think a small campground on Blue Dog. You might call Fisherman's Village 605-947-4260 and check for more.
