My brother had the same problem as yours. It was bought when they first came out at the ice fishing show from Reeds Sporting Goods. It would drill one hole fine then the next it would freeze up and do nothing but spin on the ice. He lost his fishing license for a year and sold the thing very cheap! He could have gotten the blades replaced but never did.

had the same problem with more than one auger (freezing on the blades). Seen it on one and two blade models. Simple fix though, hit the auger tip on the ice or knock the ice off with something. Makes drilling the next hole a lot easier.

A technique I learned this year from a friend while setting up my portable, is top pre drill my 4 holes 80-90% through, after that is done I finish them all off in one easy sweep. This keeps my blades from getting wet and freezing between holes. Works like a charm

I paid 425 for it, it recieved a brand new drill unit-175, 4 total sets of blades at 54.99 a set is 165. so total there is 765. I did get the drill free as a replacement from strikemaster but i still think 400 for a relitivly new unit with 4 sets of blades is a deal.

Not yet, I liked the 9" because it wasnt too big, but it wasnt small. used it last weekend and it worked great. The problems i had at first made me rethink the strikemasters reputation, but they fixed it and gave me blades. not a bad deal
