This is my first post to the Tournament talk forum. I don't usually see alot about bass tournaments, so I thought I would start to share how we have been doing in ours. We fished our fourth tournament for the year on Saturday at Lake Sarah. It was an awesome day for a tournament and the bags weighed in showed it. Our winning weight was 20lbs, 9oz. We had a total of 9 bags that were over 15lbs, and five of those were over 17lbs. Not bad for 5 fish limits. Our piggy of the day was a 5lb, 4oz Lake Sarah sweetie. Pictures of the top two catches can be seen at bassmanfishing.com I am going to try to start posting some of the pics here, but first I have to figure out how.
1st%20place%206-26-04.jpg
Paul and David Sladek with 20lbs, 9oz.
2nd%20Place%206-26-04.jpg
Luke Christensen and Todd Seeger with 19lbs, 3oz & Big Bass 5lbs, 4oz.
Good Fishing to all, and to all a good fight!

Thanks Matt

I've worked hard at it for years, as I'm sure that most guys on this site have. Days like that are not to frequent, so we should all cherish them. It takes a certain amount of skill to catch fish, but to catch 9 fish in one day that weigh over 5lbs, is takes quite a bit of luck as well. We also caught 14 that were over 4lbs, and the number of twos and threes I lost count of. The Bass God shined on us Sunday.
Thanks for the compliment.

Great PIC's Tom! I am on the water 4 days a week and the Bass Gods have been in my corner once or twice but never like that!

I have club tourney on Sara in a couple of weeks. Can you give any pointers? ...Not asking for spots...just pointers. Deep? Slop? Slow? Cranks? etc?

If you dont care to post the pointers, alternatively I can be emailed @ tubejigger@hotmail

Thanks!

Tube,
We caught all of our fish on the outside weedlines in about 3-5ft of water. We were fishing soft plastics texas rigged and fishing super slow. Everyone fished pretty slow, but there was also a good frog bite that morning. The guys that won fished in water 10-14 ft deep. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fished water the same as we did. the top 5 teams were all 17lbs plus. Good luck
The only hint I can give you is fish the ends or the middle.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
