dmoore
Has anyone found crappies in late Spring in the Miles Bay area. We can catch them in the Fall, but have never been able to find them in the Spring. Any help would be appreciated.Dick Moore

Eastwind
Dick,Some friends of mine got lots of them, up to 3/4 pound just outside of Bottleneck Bay ( East of Smokehouse) during opener week. We fished them the 27th and 29th and got a few. There were also a few boats up by Thomson Creek that I would guess were chasing Crappies. I've heard talk of crappies at ice-out in both of these areas over the past two or three years in this forum. How are the walleyes biting up there this week? Doonbuggy
Our houseboat provider mentioned crappies as one of the fish that were biting - Miles Bay and Obabikan Lake/Bay areas. Water temp as of Tuesday was 58 if that is of any help to you. I can't profess to know what spawning temp is ideal. My group is heading up Saturday and we'll be in that area for the week. Wouldn't mind catching some slabs.DB
