Lake Despair ?

hey all,
i often hear people mention lake despair. apparently it's nearby fort frances? how's the fishing in summer and winter? trout? thanks in advance for any information...

Despair lake is pretty good walleye fishing for the Fort Frances area, nothing like fishing on Lac Suel. There are not any lakers in it.

I have a good friend who has a cabin on an Island in the Northern chain of lake despair. We go up through Fort Francis - drive West for about 10 miles and then travel due North for 40 minutes until we reach lake despair lodge ( formerly Wickstroms resort). We then travel 40 minutes to the cabin that includes motoring through a small rapids. It is a beautiful area. We always catch good numbers of walleyes - but not great in size. That may now change as they have implemented some new slot limits I believe. There is also good Northern action - but again not great in size. We usually go every year - lots of bays to cast and "arms"
to explore.
