Seabass77 asked about SUV recommendations before - I thought I'd expand the topic a bit and ask for your PERSONAL EXPERIENCES with your SUVs and trucks. Please no speculation here, but actual experience owning these vehicles.
I've personally owned a number of SUVs/trucks and here's what I've found:
* 89 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 - auto/4.0 v6 Tranny went bad at 100K, ride was rough and had electrical problems Overall rating 6/10 * 89 Ford Ranger 4x4 - auto/4.0 v6 Lots of minor problems before 75K miles, terrible mileage, but fun to drive Rating 7.5/10 * 88 F150 4x4 - 5 spd/300 straight 6 Ran like a top, wish I could've kept it, sold with 212K miles and no problems Rating 9.5/10 * 96 Chev K1500 4x4 - auto/350 v8 Power! A few dumb things broke (power seat, power window motor), 14-18mpg Rating 9/10 * 00 F150 4x4 - auto/5.4 v8 Very solid truck, terrible mileage 12-13mpg, lacked the power and ride of the Chev Rating 8.5/10 * 98 Suburban 4x4 - auto/350 v8 Great vehicle, tons of power for pulling, 13-18mpg but eats brakes continually Rating 8.5/10 * 97 Explorer 4x4 - auto/4.0 v6 Ok commuter, Auto 4wd SUCKS, terrible mileage (12-13mpg), tranny has some play in it Rating 7/10
Basic conclusion for me: Chevy - good mileage, great power, lots of nickel and dime problems - my 1st choice right now Ford - solid trucks, very reliable, but lack some power and just kinda plain/boring - my 2nd choice Jeep - never again after my Cherokee experience (also owned a MOPAR car once. Ugh.)
I'm hoping to get back to a truck and dump my Explorer sometime soon and would like to hear your input on different trucks. I'll probably go for a Chev or Ford, but I do like the idea though the new Dodges with the Hemi (but can't swing $30K for a NEW truck right now). I'm looking at late 90's trucks in particular ($10-15K) and am definitely interested in your experience with those trucks.
Thanks guys.

I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought.
Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just
buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
Congrats on the motor! I think you’ll like it.
I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers. 160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.
Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor. Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to
get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius)
says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe. I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho. Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
